To the Sentinel:
The achievements of the Knights of Columbus praised in the July 30 Sentinel were well deserved but the greatest one was missed, namely, saving our Catholic Schools.
When the Oregon School Bill passed, it ordered all children to attend public schools. The Sisters of the Holy Names, in conjunction with Hill Military, unsuccessfully fought in the courts. The Supreme Court was the last court, but we had no money. The Knights saved the day with financial support. Catholics of Oregon and the U.S. owe them a huge debt of gratitude. God bless them!
