NEWBERG — Bernice Angela Sprogis, a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, died Tuesday, July 8 in a Beaverton Hospice home following an extended illness. She was 97.
Mrs. Sprogis was born in Jefferson, S.D., on March 16, 1911, to Charles and Emma Almo Rose Beauchemin. She was raised and educated in Saskatchewan and Manitoba, Canada, and came to Oregon with her parents in 1928.
In 1934, she married Leslie Sprogis of St. Paul and they lived in North Bend before returning to Newberg in the early 1960s. Mrs. Sprogis was active in the church and worked at Loyd’s in Newberg for many years.
Her husband preceded her in death in 1972.
Survivors include daughters Lorraine Hoyt and Joyce Bastasch; 10 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
