Margaret Mary Hurtley, a member of Holy Rosary Parish in Northeast Portland, died Tuesday, March 25 at age 87.
Margaret Mary McGuire was born Oct. 26, 1920, in Portland, and moved to Gervais as a child. During World War II, she served in the Marine Corps Women’s Reserve. Afterward, she lived in Portland, and was a homemaker and real estate agent for Medak Realty. In 1941, she married Claude “Clyde” Case; they divorced. She married John Hurtley in 1950; he died in 1996. Earlier in her life, Mrs. Hurtley had belonged to Ascension Parish in southeast Portland and St. Henry Parish in Gresham.
Survivors include her daughters, Diane Drew, Donna Bischoff, Jo-Ann Kuehn, Marilyn Hurtley and Julia Hurtley; sons, Timothy, Russell and Jon; 14 grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.
A Mass was held Saturday, March 29 in the chapel of Calaroga Terrace. Remembrances may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children.
