To the Sentinel:
A few months ago I sent a letter to local business leaders and politicians, urging them to not support/block the new Planned Parenthood facility in NE Portland.
I chose not to argue directly for the sanctity of life, but rather—since this would cross all beliefs on that issue—against the location as an inherently racist action: Locating it in a predominantly minority district further exacerbated the reality that those same minorities are already disproportionate Planned Parenthood users. I should have added that it was also a shameless marketing ploy to place the facility where it could generate the most revenue.
I actually received a response from one Portland city commissioner to whom I had written. His letter started out with the all-too-familiar, “Thank you for your letter and I disagree” polite tone; he added also that many people in that neighborhood actually “expressed support” for that new presence. It was, however, with disbelief, horror, outrage that I read his response that makes clear the basic business thrust behind the horrific actions taken to execute the unborn.
“I too support the organization and its proposed development, particularly since the facility’s new medical care clinic and administrative headquarters will provide 140 new jobs to the area.”
In the end, the murder of the unborn is really all about money and jobs.
