Bible teaches forgiveness

To The Sentinel:
Although I know there are some clergy with issues, I for one do not believe all the charges against the church and our priests.

I work in retail and have been a restaurant manager. Oh, how well I know that children can, and do, lie. Some parents even put them up to this. Parents even teach children to steal and lie. I also realize that people are looking for a scapegoat for their shortcomings and harbor resentment.

Well, improve yourself, and stop making our church responsible for maybe a poor childhood. If you’re unhappy with your local parish, try another one. Adults, take stock in yourself and your faith life. Take responsibility for yourself. Our church will not go away — it is willed by God.

I do know, like I said, there is bad out there, too. I pray for a troubled priest each day — we should all do this. The church is all of us.

I also think that many dioceses are caving in too easily. I believe that people need to see it as a church and not a bank ripe for many frivolous lawsuits. If one has been abused for any reason by church clergy or hierarchy, I am sorry! The Bible does not say thou shalt sue the church. It teaches forgiveness.
