KLAMATH FALLS — An historic meeting took place last month at St. Pius X Parish here. The meeting was the first for the newly formed Catholic school exploratory committee. More than 35 members of the parish signed on as members of this committee to discover the possibility of opening a Catholic school in the parish.

Father Rick Fischer, the pastor, says the group shows “a tremendous amount of enthusiasm and optimism.” He told the committee that there are many questions that need to be answered before any decision could be made.

Father Fischer said that if a school were to open, it would have to be Eucharist-centered, must be available to any child from the parish no matter what the family’s financial status, and would be guided by the spirit of the Second Vatican Council.
Though it was only the first of many meetings to come, committee members say they are ready to get to work and see what is possible.
