To The Sentinel:
I keep hearing that George W. Bush should be applauded for his appointments to the Supreme Court and for his stand against abortion as though that vindicates him from lying to the American public and taking us into an unjust war. While Bush supporters cry holy because he stands against abortion, I think they are wearing blinders. Abortion has been a sad part of our country long before its legalization. The answer to ending abortion is education not legislation. Yes, abortion is horrible and, yes, our military, perhaps, consented to give their lives, but have we forgotten the 90,000 Iraqi civilians who have been murdered by our preemptive war? Have we forgotten the millions of homeless, those without food, water or basic necessities, because of our illegal war? They are also the voiceless in this atrocity by our country. Do they not count because they are not U.S. citizens? Do they not count because we don’t see them? Do they not count because their religion is not ours? If we fail to see the evil in this, we fail to hear Jesus.
