To the Sentinel:

A combination of health stuff and my own deadline kept me from writing to commend your Yom Kippur editorial.

I’ve had Jewish-Catholic relations on my heart for years and for a couple decades have been dialoging with a Jewish spirituality expert who is a Kristallnacht survivor.

I phoned Rolf in L.A. and read him the editorial.

He commended its accuracy and then we rejoiced, as we have — thank God — been able to so many times.
We rejoiced also that we have each lived to see the day when Catholics appreciate Jews.

And the deeply wounded Jews are beginning to appreciate, in many cases, that Catholics are now friends, not persecutors.
